Workshops & Craft Parties
Warning: Creating your very own fascinators can become addictive!
However, the sense of achievement at the end of a relaxing, creative day comes highly recommended, and that’s even before the sense of pride you will feel wearing your own special creation, topping off a fabulous outfit and receiving all those compliments!
For all the workshops all materials will be provided for you and you even have a hat box to take your finished creation home with you. There are lots of colours available, and as long as you let me know at least 7 days in advance, I can make sure you have just the colour you’d like to work with. I’ll go through the different ways there are to wear the fascinators too, and you can choose headband, comb or clips on the day.
All the workshops are suitable for complete beginners and you can work at your own pace. We use very straight-forward sewing techniques so even if you have never sewn before or don’t feel you have a creative bone in your body, I will be there to help every step of the way and you will have something you will be proud to wear by the end of the day! If you are hungry for knowledge I will throw as much information your way as you can handle, in a nice way!
One Day Workshops
The one day workshops run from 10am till 4pm in various locations. We concentrate on a fabulous material called sinamay which is available in loads of vibrant colours and is really versatile. The morning will be spent showing you various different techniques that you can have a go at, so you then have samples of each thing to take away with you and refer back to later, should you wish. We cover making strips of sinamay for bows and loops, different types of flowers and leaves and lots more.
In the afternoon after lunch you can then concentrate on making and designing your own fascinator to take away with you, with my help and support all the way, practicing the techniques you have learned and taking inspiration from lots of examples of my work that will be there too. We work on pre-made bases, so this workshop is to learn lots of trimming techniques and there will be lots of beads, crinoline and other materials to bring into your design on the day too.
You may just want to learn to make one type of fascinator for one special occasion, or just have a taster first before you delve deeper into millinery perhaps. If that’s the case then this is the workshop for you!
Lasting 2 to 3 hours I will demonstrate the techniques you need to learn for the type of fascinator you have chosen and support you while you make your finished piece.
The short workshops as described above are perfect for hen parties and private get-togethers for groups of friends, with a minimum number of just 4 people in the West Midlands area. Whether you stay at home with the girls or craft it into a whole weekend of luxury, the possibilities are endless!
